Mechanical Designer

Position Overview:

The Mechanical Designer will execute complete designs for design-build and design-assist projects to ensure maximum profitability, timely completion, and contractual satisfaction. The role involves value engineering, project management support, and designer development while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Contract Documents:

• Compile a comprehensive set of plans and specifications for project execution.
• Display strong knowledge of contract documents and interpret them effectively.

Productivity:

• Develop optimal work methods and prepare sketches and drawings.
• Understand project scope to allocate appropriate time for estimation and design completion.

Training & Mentorship:

• Train and develop designers to work independently on designs and applications.
• Provide guidance on design and constructability to project teams.

Stakeholder Relations:

• Build relationships with supervisors, project teams, owners, architects, customers, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Support administrative staff in record-keeping, proposals, and billing processes.

Engineering & Design:

• Ensure compliance with codes, industry standards, and company policies.
• Design efficient and cost-effective mechanical and plumbing systems.
• Perform heat load calculations using the latest software and maintain software updates.

Estimating & Value Engineering:

• Understand estimates, equipment buy-outs, and subcontractor selection.
• Provide value engineering solutions to improve project efficiency.

Project Management Support:

• Offer insights and support to improve project profitability.

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems.
• Experience with design-build and design-assist projects.
• Proficiency in industry-specific software for calculations and design.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
